Welcome. Professionally, I am a UK Civil Servant and graduated from the Open University in 2021 with a 2:1 in Social Science with Politics. I have worked for the UK Civil Service for over nine years, across several Government departments. I am currently on maternity leave after becoming a mother for the first time in March 2024.
I love working in the public sector. It may sound a bit cliché, but I honestly couldn't imagine doing anything else. Serving the public by working to implement policies that aim to enhance the lives of others motivates me. And, as a new mum, I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that my contribution, no matter how small, will enable my son and his descendants to thrive in a better, more equal, more environmentally-friendly world.

My biggest personal interest is History.. All eras are fascinating, but prefer to read about British history from the Victorians to World War Two. Though I should caveat that I don't get much of a chance to sit quietly with a book these days. When my son is older, I hope to challenge myself and complete a Masters in History.
I'd love to say I am also interested in cooking/baking, travelling etc, as seems to be the fashion for blogs, but I'm not. My partner can attest to my poor cooking skills and huge phobia of flying. Although he can run away from my kitchen failures by ordering a takeaway, or popping a ready meal in the oven, it's not so easy on a plane!
This blog will likely be a bit of a "pick-n-mix" between politics, history and mum life, rather than focusing on one particular topic. Though as a current Civil Servant I must remain impartial and therefore will not be commenting on any policies planned/implemented by the current or any previous Governments.
